The Science Behind Successful Testimonials

The Science Behind Successful Testimonials

First of all, let's talk about 2 different kinds of testimonials I see out there. I call them pamper testimonials and results testimonials. Pamper testimonials talk about how nice it was to work with you, how great you are and how much fun they had. They will not hurt your marketing and they will add a little bit of spice to you when they are nicely mixed in with the results testimonials. However, if all you got is pamper testimonials, alone they will not bring you many clients. Results testimonials are more specific and they talk about what the client actually got after working with you. "I made over 10K in two weeks after our VIP day …" or "my head was was the next day after our session" or "I met a wonderful man after this program and now we are getting married …" get the picture.

So the big question is, what do you do if most or even all of your testimonials are pamper testimonials or if you do not have any testimonials at all? Maybe you are just starting out or maybe you have not had a chance to ask your clients for testimonials, or maybe they promised to give you one but have not gotten around to it.

The first thing I would recommend is this, always ask for a testimony and try to do it at the right time. Timing is everything. Do not wait until after your last session or when they have already gone through your program. They may say yes, but life will get in a way and they might forget. Instead, try to catch them when they are feeling great about your work together and maybe even bragging about something they were able to do after your last session. That's when you can ask them if they are willing to put it in writing.

Also, when you ask for a testimony, make sure you fully explain the benefits both you and your clients will get out of it. For you the benefits may be obvious – it adds credibility and Promotes you. For your client it may give them more exposure and promote their business as well. You may want to tell them, "would you be willing to give me a written testimony I can post on my web site which will at the same time also promote your business." I understand this approach will only work if your business is not anything personal or intimate.

I believe there is a lot more to a testimonial than just that. I see them as gifts and expressions of gratitude. When you are in a state of gratitude, you are naturally a lot more attractive. When you read clients testimonials at your events or during your promo time, do not just read them. Make sure you add a touch of humbleness to the way you talk about the success of your clients. After all, it is not just about you and how …

Online Learning Visual Design Principles

Online Learning Visual Design Principles

Before we discuss what are some of the design principles that you can apply to on-line content, we should define what we mean by "Design". This is one of those words that are ever-present in every industry that produces something, but it often means something different to every person invoking its meaning.

For this discussion, we are making the argument that to design something is to plan its inception, production and use, and that the application of consistent principles can improve the utility of that thing. In the case of on-line educational content, this means a plan of the purpose, presentation and evaluation of that content using accepted instructional design principles. Yet, we are working in a format that requires the consideration of other applications of design ideas from other fields. The use of media types such as typography, images, and audio are directly constrained by the on-line distribution method in both presentation and technical considerations.

In other words, if we are going to produce educational content on-line, we either need to be adept in the realms of education, project management, Internet technology, graphic design, audio design and web development and design, or we need a competent team to support our efforts. However, the development procedures of each team will vary to such an amount that we may be liable for several areas within a project or be forced to change hats due to resource constraints. We may not be experts in every area, but we had better be certain that we are at least passing knowable, if for no other reason than to know how to assign and evaluate tasks for other members.

In a nutshell, we should look at design as applying certain general principals taken from various disciplines to the various elements of our content in order to make that content more usable and effective. To do this, we need to draw from ideas as varied as graphic design, information architecture, instructional design, web design and development, typographic design, audio development and others.

Basic Visual Design Elements

It is likely that a large portion of the on-line content we develop will be presented in a visual form. For this reason, it is relevant to consider what are some accepted visual design principals being used by professionals and what we might learn from them to apply to our work. However, the principles are typically applied to elements, or building blocks of visual representations that we should at least note in passing, though they may not all apply to our definition of elements or how we will apply the principles. A list of these elements may include:

  • point
  • space
  • shape
  • tone
  • form
  • mass
  • line
  • texture
  • pattern
  • time
  • light
  • color
  • Basic Visual Design Principles

Although lists of visual design principals will differ from individual to individual, most lists will contain some arrangement of the following:

  • scale – typically contrasting one object with another
  • proportion -typically comparing elements of an object to its other elements
  • balance – often represented as an

Remote Desktop Service – Advantages, Disadvantages and Its Monitoring

Remote desktop service is a technology enabling you to sit at a computer and connect to a remote computer (host computer) in a different location. In other words, you can get access to your office computer from your home desktop and can use all your files, applications, and network resources exactly as you use to work on your office computer. You need to leave your office computer on with programs running and when you get home you can watch your work computer’s desktop seen on your home computer, with the same programs running.

    Industry Application Remote Desktop Service

RDS is successfully applied in multiple industries for the management of IT infrastructure. Now, leveraging RDS, new applications or updates can be installed in all the computers through single command without practically doing it separately. In addition several computer problems can be identified and debugged by remotely accessing the affected computer.

In education field also several educational institutions are using RDS for offering students the option of distance learning. Students can learn or watch a presentation or do exercise by getting connected to a computer at their school.

RDS is also being used in telecommuting sector. Lot of telecommuting opportunities are available these days wherein an employee can work from anywhere with an access to a PC with an internet connection.

    Advantages and Disadvantages

With the availability of the high-speed internet access you can now host your software applications hosted remotely, which will enable global businesses access to shared applications easily without the need of any IT specialist and prominent computer knowledge.

The advantages of Remote Desktop are:

    1. Disaster Recovery: In RDS there is no fear of losing any data by theft or disaster, because all documents and files are stored in secure data centers. All connections to your remote desktop are encrypted to ensure your correspondences are safe and secured from being hacked.

    2. Freedom to Work from Anywhere: This system enables you to move with your laptop or computer system and work seamlessly from anywhere, anytime.

    3. Cost Effective: This remote desktop system will cut down your cost of purchasing Microsoft Office Suite as it generally comes with remote IT system package.

Remote desktop service, being one of the most popular remote software service necessities for many businesses, it also comes with certain disadvantages which include:

    1. Powerful RDS Required: The remote desktop service should be powerful enough to be able to monitor all connections. As several computers are monitored through a centralized RDS hence the capacity of RDS needs to be powerful enough to take the functional load of multiple computer systems or else the entire setup may go haywire.

    2. RDS Monitoring Required: The remote desktop service is the prominent source of risk of downtime. The entire system will collapse if the remote desktop service will fail unless a RDS monitoring system is in place.

    3. Reliable Network Required: The performance of the system entirely is also impacted by the network credibility. The entire system will be …

    Multimedia and Hardware Education

    Multimedia and Hardware Education

Multimedia studies is an interdisciplinary field of academics nowadays, which focuses on the understanding of technologies and cultural dimensions of linking traditional media sources with the newer versions of the same. Its scopes can be explained better if the term communication is blended with the visual part of it, or through the concept of communication design. This is because if communication refers to the need and practice of interaction with people around us so as to make sense of the world and to position ourselves in the widespread socio-cultural reality, designing is a science as well to create a plan or a norm, criteria or a custom, for the construction of an object, system or measurable human interaction in business and in society at large. In the complex digital environment around us today, such designing can be thus applied to all transactions that are possible between an individual and their environment and has become a powerful means of reaching out to the target audience. Also, it is such a learning which seeks to attract, inspire, create desires and motivate people to respond to messages, with the objective of creating an impact for the initiator, which can be either to build a brand, move sales, or for general humanitarian purposes.

Considering communication and designing together is a modern systems-based approach, a mixed discipline between design and information-development, concerned with media intervention such as printed, crafted, electronic media or presentations to communicate with people. Thus, the stream of multimedia studies involve a broad spectrum of visual communication, involving editing, typography, illustration, web design, animation, advertising, visual identity design, performing arts, copywriting and professional writing skills applied in the creative industries. Students of this stream learn to create visual messages and how well they could be broadcast to the world in new and meaningful ways. Students learn how to combine communication with art and technology through the disciplines involving how to design web pages, video games, animation, motion graphics and more. The various mediums to get a message across are advertising, graphic designing, industrial designing, information architecture, marketing, technical writing and so on, to become illustrators, graphic designers, web designers, advertising artists, animators, video editors or motion graphic artists, or even printmakers and conceptual artists.

In West Bengal the ‘Brainware University’ is the one of its kind, offering extremely job-oriented full-time undergraduate and postgraduate courses in multimedia studies, and thus leading students of this generation to blend their imaginative thinking and their creative faculty to the technology of the day to meet the growing needs of the mass and media in multiple aspects.…

Mike Anderson Bio – Head Basketball Coach of University of Missouri (MU) Tigers Basketball Team

Mike Anderson is best known to most college basketball fans today as the head coach of the men’s basketball team at the University of Missouri which is also commonly referred to as Mizzou or simply MU. Coach Anderson has received praise from supporters of the Columbia, Missouri based college for leading the basketball program to post season NCAA Tournament wins following both the 2008-2009 season and the 2009-2010 basketball season.

In addition to being a proven winner on the basketball court Anderson has won over the hearts of faithful MU Tigers supporters with his consistent commitments of loyalty to the university. In March of 2009 Mike signed a contract extension with MU and in doing so reportedly turned down an even more financially lucrative offer from the University of Georgia of the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

In the spring of 2010 a similar concern arose when University of Missouri fans were one again afraid that they might lose their successful basketball coach to poaching efforts by another college. During the 2010 scare the threatening school was the University of Oregon which due in part to the tremendous resources bestowed upon the university by locally based Nike was reportedly offering Coach Anderson a significant salary increase to move to the Pacific Northwest and coach the University of Oregon Ducks in the Pacific 10 (Pac 10) Conference. Coach Anderson chose to politely pass on the offer from the Oregon Ducks and remain committed to the contract extension that he signed with the Missouri Tigers on March 31, 2009.

Long before becoming a hot commodity in the world of Division-I basketball coaches Mike, born in 1959, grew up in Alabama where he was an all-state high school basketball player in his own rite. After high school Anderson played for now well-known basketball coach Nolan Richardson (who eventually won a national championship with the University of Arkansas in 1994) at the University of Tulsa. The duo of Mike Anderson and Coach Richardson won a NIT Championship together in 1981.

After graduating from the University of Tulsa in 1982 Anderson spent three seasons as an assistant coach at his alma mater and when head coach Nolan Richardson moved to the University of Arkansas in 1985 Anderson followed suit and served as an assistant there for 17 years. In 2002 Mike Anderson accepted a head coaching position in the city where he was born at the University of Alabama Birmingham or UAB for short. After four very successful seasons at UAB Anderson accepted the head coaching position at the Big 12 Conference mainstay the University of Missouri where he has been ever since the 2006-2007 season.…

Susan Boyle Dreams of a New Career – What About You?

Susan Boyle Dreams of a New Career – What About You?

Have you seen the video now sweeping the Internet, of Susan Boyle singing "I Dreamed a Dream" on 'Britain's Got Talent' show?

Her performance brought the audience to its feet in cheers and tears.

Susan is a 47-year-old, unemployed woman – either stylish nor beautiful – who has never sung before a large audience.

And yet – she wants a new career. She wants to be a professional singer.

When she took the stage and stated her age and her ambition of this new career, the audience and the judges titted with cynicism and doubt.

And then she began to sing.

Immediately, everyone knew they were witnessing something quite exceptionally. She stirred their souls with her beautiful voice and heartfelt rendition. In the blink of an eye, an audience of skeptics was transformed into adoring fans.

I do not know what Susan's future holds, but I am sure she will have a new career very soon!

Susan Boyle's moment captures what I have been talking about for years and reflects what Eleanor Roosevelt said: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

For 35 years Susan dreamt of a new career. She bought her opportunity. She risked being ridiculed on television because her dream was stronger than her fear.

She, quite literally, put herself 'out there.'

Are you willing to risk everything for the beauty of your dream? Are you looking for and seizing all opportunities to live your dream and find your new career?

Our dreams do have beauty in them. They have meaning, not only to us, but also to others.

As we express the beauty from within into outward form as Susan did, we stir something in the souls of others, not just our own.

Susan Boyle expressed her beauty through singing. How will you express yours?

I read once of an angel taking a human on a guided tour of extraordinary creations of art, music, inventions, architecture and the like. The human marveled and asked the angel, "What is this place?" And the angel answered, "These are all theventions that were intended to be created by humankind over the years – and never were."

Henry David Thoreau said, "Most people die with their music still in them."

    What about you?

What do you have a burning desire to create? What new career is calling you? What music is still in you? How will you sing your own version of I Dreamed a Dream?

In my own life, sometimes I've taken risks and sometimes I've stayed in my comfort zone. But there is no real safety in hiding – no satisfaction either.

When I've taken risks, the outcome always led to more and better surprises than I ever thought. New careers opened up; promotions and larger assignments were available.

Best of all, I had the deep satisfaction of knowing I was fulfilling my purpose. And I influenced other people in positive ways, adding to my own joy in expression.

Paralegals and Secretaries – An Exploration of Earnings

Paralegals and Secretaries – An Exploration of Earnings

Income for paralegals and legal assistants varies, depending on education and training, work experience, geographic location, and the employer by size and type. Typically, paralegals working for large metropolitan law firms earn more in salary and benefits.
According to the US Department of Labor in May 2004, "full-time wage and salary paralegals and legal assistants had median annual earnings, including bonuses, of $ 39,130.The middle 50 percent earned between $ 31,040 and $ 49,950. $ 61,390, while the bottom 10 percent earned less than $ 25,360. " In addition to their salary, many paralegals receive bonuses. It is unclear whether bonus reporting was included in the statistics; if not, those earnings would rise even higher.

Continuing with the Department of Labor statistics: "Median annual earnings of legal secretaries were $ 36,720 in May 2004. The middle 50 percent earned between $ 29,070 and $ 46,390.The lowest 10 percent earned less than $ 23,270, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $ 56,590. "

Thus, by comparison, paralegals have greater opportunity to earn a higher salary than legal secretaries.

Do legal secretaries earn approximately the same as other types of secretaries? No, it is higher. Referring back to Department of Labor compilations: "Medical secretaries earned a medical annual salary of $ 26,540 in May 2004. The middle 50 percent earned between $ 21,980 and $ 32,690. Median annual earnings of secretaries, except legal, medical, and executive, were $ 26,110 in May 2004. "

Let's compare the median annual salies:

    Paralegals – $ 31,040 to $ 49,950

    Legal Secretaries – $ 29,070 to $ 46,390

    Medical Secretaries – $ 21,980 to $ 32,690

Secretaries (Exception Legal, Medical and Executive) – $ 26,110

Which type of position is more attractive based on salary?

It is highly advisable for young people to earn college educations. Competition for jobs is fierce, and particularly with current technological advances, higher education is just plain required to land career jobs. Players in the game of Life who go straight to work rather than the college route, in reality, may wind up with dead-end jobs and victims of the saying, "he worked until the day he died."

With paralegal salaries registering at a higher rung than the other office positions, it is reasonable that legal assistants would more than likely require the most education and training. Employers hiring any of the above positions may consider candidates with general course work, but specialized training would normally be given greater consideration. Specialized training suggests a new hire will pick up the work ball already running. This may also be less cost to the employer during in-house training.

Explore your opportunities for higher education, and consider a career as a paralegal. Salaries are good. The work is interesting. With advancement potential, a paralegal career is an excellent choice. Is it the right one for you? …

    Early History of Oxford University

    Early History of Oxford University

There has been a passing around Oxford since Roman times. However nothing permanent was established until about 700 AD when the hamlet of Oxnaforda became a strategic place between the kingdoms of Mercia and Wessex. After the Norman request the town was fortifies from about 1070. Some of these city walls remain and one of the mounds is still in existence (by the Old Prison)

    Origins of the University.

The first evidence of learning in Oxford could be traced back to 720 AD when the local ruler King Didan founded a nunnery for his devout daughter Frideswide. This was built in the grounds of Christ Church Cathedral. This nunnery later dissected but it was taken over by a community of Anglican monks in about 1120. They rebuilt the chapel and dedicated the church to St Frideswide. This was the foundation for Christ Church Cathedral.

By 1167 there were 3 small monastic schools of learning in Oxford, of which the community in Christ Church was one. Around this time of 1167 many English schools were forced to flee the University of Paris. The current King, Henry II encouraged many of these to come to Oxford and continue their studies. The patronage of Henry II was important for the development of Oxford as a seat of learning.

The schools welcomed the traditional curriculam from Paris. All learning was under the Chuch of Rome and all scholars and Masters were in holy orders and used to wear a long black gown. These scholars were not of the nobility but often from humble origins but they played an important role in the administration of the state being the small% of the literate population.

In 1214 Oxford was recognized as a university by the Church and the first Chancellor was appointed. This attracted many scholars to come. These young boisterous schools often created friction and conflict with the local towns people and during this century there were frequently "town versus gown" riots which left a couple of people dead. Because of this many schools moved to other towns such as Cambridge leading to the formation of other universities.

In the 13th Century many masters created halls of residence to protect scholars from local hostility. Also in the 13th century there appeared the first of the University colleges. Colleges were different to the halls of residence because they were not tied to the monastic tradition. In fact many colleges preverted their members from taking monastic vows. This enabled more adventurous teaching than in the monastic halls. The colleges were like a secular response to the monastic halls of residence.

Oxford Colleges were usually founded by rich churchmen who had no offspring to leave their wealth. Thus it was seen as a commendable act to create a college and endow it with wealth. Because of their greater wealth and permanence the colleges flourished and gradually began to overtake and absorb the smaller, more impermanent halls.

The first 3 colleges to be set up were University college, Merton …
