Tim Tebow Early Life Bio – University of Florida (UF) Gators Quarterback Now With Denver Broncos

Tim Tebow Early Life Bio – University of Florida (UF) Gators Quarterback Now With Denver Broncos

Tim Tebow became a household name for most sports fans during his four year career playing quarterback for the University of Florida (UF) Gators football team during the 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 seasons. While even casual sports fans are familiar with the Heisman Trophy winning quarterback fewer are aware of what his early life bio was like long before being drafted by the Denver Broncos in April of 2010 or signing on to play college football for coach Urban Meyer at the University of Florida.

Tim was born in August of 1987 in the Philippines in a city that most Americans have never heard of called Makati City. The seemingly odd location of his birth is a result of the Christian missionary work that his parents Robert and Pamela were doing in the South Pacific at the time. Robert and Pamela met at the University of Florida and for many years now the couple oversees an orphanage in the Philippines.

Tim, along with his siblings, was home schooled from an early age. The motivation of the family to have the mother homeschool the children was largely motivated by the desire to have a certain faith based set of beliefs instilled into their children, a set of morals that the family felt would be taught more effectively at home rather than in a traditional school setting. Although this premise makes sense when comparing homeschooling to traditional public schools why the family did not choose a private parochial education is unclear.

A 1996 Florida piece of legislation allowing home schooled children to compete in high school sports within the local school districts they lived in actually paved the way for Tim Tebow to eventually become a household name. The high school football career of the future first round NFL draft pick quarterback began very discreetly while Tim was home schooled and playing linebacker and tight end at Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida. As many amateur football analysts with 20/20 hindsight can attest the full potential of Tim’s athleticism, throwing ability, and leadership skills were underutilized at the tight end position on offense.

In a successful effort to find a high school football program where Tim could flourish as a quarterback Tim and his mother moved from their family farm in Duval County to an apartment in neighboring St. Johns County in Florida so that Tim would be eligible to play at Nease High School. In large part because Tim was such a standout athlete upset parents of opposing players were frustrated that as a home schooled student athlete he essentially had his pick of any team to play for.

Tim was named the state of Florida Player of the Year following both his junior and senior seasons in high school. Among the numerous accolades that he accumulated during his prep career were recognition as an all-state football player and being named a Parade All-American. In a turn of events that certainly would have surprised the Trinity High School football coaches …

Career Case Study; The Female Executive Officers in Large Corporations

Career Case Study; The Female Executive Officers in Large Corporations

Today, there are more and more female executives making it into the higher ranks and large corporations. We have seen many very large companies such as Hewlett-Packard with female presidents. We see more and more female vice presidents and board members in today's modern corporations and this is a good thing.

Most female executive officers have accepted that although things are changing, they are changing slowly. They realize for the most part corporations are somewhat of a man's world, but over time this will change completely and that is obvious. As a man, of course, yes I totally understand that. I realize how the real world works.

The glass ceiling is alive and well and well it is unfortunate. Actually it has been my opinion that women do a better job in many regards and aspects of business. Again that is a stereotype, but it has been my observation. I had recently met the former President of an Atlantic City Casino at a pool party in NJ, she was pretty much forced to resign, but had really bought the casino back up to speed during her reign.

I have another friend she was President of the American Cancer Society in LA and I have yet another acquaintance who was the first woman Regional VP of Hyatt and I met the President of Pacific Telephone in San Francisco many years back who ran that organization too. Yes I see all these issues and know some super duper women who kick butt and are Presidents of many great companies around this nation.

Business executives and corporate board members need to know that they need to pick the best person for the job. If that person is a woman then that is the person who needs to be in control, take responsibility and assume that position. The glass ceiling needs to be broken and let the best person win. Please consider this in 2006. …

Top 5 Characteristics of a Good Weight Loss Plan

Top 5 Characteristics of a Good Weight Loss Plan

A great weight loss plan strikes a good balance between a healthy diet and an active lifestyle. It sounds so simple in theory, yet most of us who want to lose weight find it hard to stick to this philosophy alone. What’s worse is that we have read a tumultuous amount of literature regarding the “proper” or the “best” way to lose weight, and, somehow, we end up confusing ourselves even more.

When you make a commitment to lose weight, you have to make sure that you’re choosing a healthy weight loss plan. You may ask how can you ensure that the weight loss plan you’re about to make is the right one that will work for you. Well, simply put, it is all about watching what you eat and making sure you are engaged in an active sports or exercise program. For people who are bordering to obesity, it is best to consult a health fitness coach or a nutritionist to ensure that you get professional advice on the best weight loss plan that will suit your needs and lifestyle. However, for people who have gained a bit of weight and are wanting to live a healthier lifestyle, here are the top five characteristics of what constitutes a truly healthy weight loss plan.

1. Proper Nutrition Over Single-Item Diets

There is no short cut to healthy eating. For your benefit, simply avoid any weight loss plan that urges you to eat only one food item. Most people are under the impression that if we eat only foods that will increase fiber or protein intake, we’re good to go. It is worth emphasizing that healthy weight loss means eating a well-balanced diet from all food groups. Starving and food deprivation will definitely crash your system in the long run. You may lose weight temporarily but this will only encourage an unhealthy relationship with food. The key thing to remember is moderation.

2. Calorie-Conscious Diet Plan

Being mindful of what you eat is the first step to healthy eating. The best way to do this is to follow a plan that allows you to track your calorie intake. Being aware of how much calories you take in is an essential part of losing weight. A lot of us find it tedious to count calories. However, a healthy weight loss plan ensures that you get just the right amount of calories your body needs to burn energy. There is no need to eliminate caloric foods in your diet. Just choose a diet program that makes it convenient for you to calculate the number of calories you need to lose a certain amount of weight. Reading food labels is a good start.

3. Portion Management, Water Intake, and Weight Loss

Aside from calories, a good weight loss plan should encourage you to cultivate portion control. Again, there is no need to deprive yourself of food. A good weight loss plan allows you to exercise your inner discipline to consciously eat in moderation and …

High Paying Jobs With MBA Degrees – The Right Business Education

Gone are the days when entrepreneurs used to learn business on the job. This was the most prevalent way of getting business education, though informal. There are numerous successful entrepreneurs who succeed in business field without any formal business education.

One can learn business on the job as has been demonstrated by a large number of businessmen. That route takes longer and is worn with concerns.

With the complexities of modern business, business education has now been formalized. In order to do business, it is necessary that one should be conversant with so many business practices. Some universities also have executive MBA programs which can be completed in one to two years. Executive Mabs are specific to working executives and managers who have been practicing in business field or at jobs for a number of years.

Sociology in Peru (Tribute to the Sociology College, Huancayo, Peru)

Sociology in Peru (Tribute to the Sociology College, Huancayo, Peru)

(The Premise: for the reader's better understanding of Sociology in Peru)

I was invited and received an award from the Sociology College in Huancayo, Peru, and thus, I feel I should write a tribute for them. I do not claim to know more about sociology than they (especially in their own country), for I only have a minor in undergraduate studies in sociology, but I do have a major in Psychology, a License in Counseling, a Ph.D. in traveling the world, and a Ed. D, (Doctorate) in education (culture and learning).

The reason for this essay of sorts, perhaps my help the English reader more than the Peruvian Spanish reader, simply because those who come to Peru, may fall into the category of cultural shock.

Sociology, if compared to many of the other sciences, is rather new, it looks at cause and effect, as does psychology; but more as a whole, than an individual, where psychology does just the opposite-and at what we may call, the present social picture, its status, or phenomena-reading a society's history will help the person involved in knowing the society they are stepping into (my wife Rosa, read two huge books, over 1000-pages per book, so she would know the United States, when she moved there with me for six years); in this case Peru, and its people. Other elements involved are the government, economics, and problems in the society. Etc.

And like all sciences, the sociologist of Peru, look to make a chart; anthropology is always involved with a society, sooner or later it is put on the table, I had studied antropology in College years ago, and it does tell stories, sometimes of why a society is what it is, or ended up to be as it is, and a few more why's.

The cup of tea for the sociologist, is quite mixed as you can see for in a society there are of course many, many obstacles to look at, and each society may have different ones, ones more serious, or less serious than its neighbors, Egypt friends.

Like in most all sciences, one will find prejudices implied, here as well, for my opinions are mine, and perhaps not my friends. Also the French, or Russian, may not agree to my way of thinking. This is ok, they see things differently. Who is correct? In a society, you must adjust. For forty-years the singing group, 'The Beatles,' was flown from entering Israel, now Israel has invited them to Israel. Things change in a society, slowly. Social and political views do not always remain the same, as well as for solutions. …

529 Plan Credit Cards

529 Plan Credit Cards

A 529 plan is a savings plan that is used for saving towards future college costs, and offers a variety of tax-advantages over other forms of savings. It makes sense then, that families with children are opting to use credit cards with rewards that are tied into 529 plans. This style of rewards credit card is best used when the card owner uses the 529 rewards card to make all of their purchases, and then watches as the rebates drop into the 529-college savings account.

Considerations for 529 Rewards Credit Cards

If you are unable to pay off your entire monthly balance each month, you will not benefit from a 529 rewards credit card. The interest you pay on the card will almost always be higher than the amount of rebates you earn if you carry a balance from one month to the next.

While some 529 rewards credit cards require that you link your credit card account with a specific 529 plan, others allow cardholders to design any investment account to have rebates deposited. If you do not have children or are unsure if your child will want to attend college, you may decide to have rebates deposited into another form of investment account.

Most Popular 529 Rewards Credit Cards With No Annual Fees

Fidelity 529 College Rewards Card: issued through MBNA, this credit card provides a 2% rebate on all purchases. The maximum you can earn each year with this card is $ 1,500. Your card rebates will automatically be deposited into a 529 plan that is managed by Fidelity. People living in New Hampshire, Delaware, Arizona and Massachusetts are currently eligible for the Fidelity 529 College Rewards Card.

Citi Upromise Credit Card: issued through Citi Bank, this credit card provides a 1% rebate on all general purchases. The maximum you can earn each year with this card is $ 300. When you use the Citi Upromise card at specific locations, including Mobil and Exxon, you'll get 2% of your purchases in rebates, with no annual maximum; and a full 10% on grocery and drug store purchases without annual maximum rebates. You can link your Citi Upromise credit card to any 529 plan that is managed by Upromise Investments Inc.

GHESP / Futuretrust MasterCard: issued through Juniper Bank and managed by TIAA-CREF, this credit card offers 1% rebates on all general purchases with no annual maximum rebates. Most people link their cards to a Georgia 529 plan, but you can also use Futuretrust's self branded credit card and link it to almost any investment or bank account to receive your rebates.

BabyMint College Savings Card: issued from MBNA, this credit card provides a 1% rebate and no maximum limits. You can link your credit card with any 529 plan or investment account and have the rebates automatically deposited.

Using credit cards is almost a necessity in today's economy. If you have a discipline and can pay your balance off in full each month, it is a great idea …

Schools Out – Are You Considering Community College?

Schools Out – Are You Considering Community College?

Community colleges are also known as junior colleges. Essentially, a community college is a two-year post-high-school institution that offers Associate programs, certification programs and many other programs. Since community colleges are generally public schools, the emphasis is always on open access to quality education and a minimalist admissions policy, operating on the credo that everyone should be provided the opportunity to pursue higher education.

A community college offers students from all backgrounds the opportunity to join and learn with an emphasis on learning, not on the historical accreditation (perception of credits) or the degree. As it is, many courses and programs offered by a typical community college are non-credit courses and often just about imparting knowledge and vocational skills.

In fact, apart from the flexibility offered by their two-year program, community colleges are in many respects quite similar to colleges with four-year programs. While there is an emphasis on preventing people the benefits of a higher education, there are minimum requirements that students are expected to maintain in terms of academic standing. This combination of an open-door policy with the benefits of a regular four-year college system in terms of quality of education and motivating students to maintain minimum standards can be surprisingly effective in the rapidly changing social environment of today.

Community colleges have become increasingly important in recent years due to the extra demands of the workplace. Employers today demand more education and skills from their employees than ever before. A college degree offers the complementess of education and knowledge that employers look for. In addition, community colleges allow students to benefit from the positive aspects of voluntary learning by preparing them for a career-oriented life in a two-year program. For students that want to get a head-start in their career or students that are still undecided that they want to go through four years of college education, a community college may be the perfect choice for them to get started.

The course curriculum in a community college is unique in its practical nature. For people who want to learn immediately applicable skills that will allow them to enter the work and be eligible for higher level jobs, the options that a community college education offers are very valuable. As such, community colleges are a popular choice for people 'returning' to college to learn a new skill or certification. In fact, community colleges are most popular for their ability to easily integrate members from varied backgrounds into their student body.

The decision to attend a community college is an important one to make. Often, the need to learn a new skill will push you towards acquiring a certification. Sometimes however, you may need the extra choices and flexibility that a two-year program provides. No matter what your needs, a community college education is to be seriously considered for those students who wish to follow an alternative path to the traditional career path (through a four-year program). …

The Brief Alliance of Religion and Science

The Brief Alliance of Religion and Science

The tension between the religious and scientific communities continues to increase and that tension has manifested itself in a variety of overt, but also subtle ways. While it may not be immediately apparent by the rhetorical emanating from their leadership over the last century, the religious and scientific communities have far more in common than we are made to believe. Both communities have stated goals to seek and find truth, and both have fundamental flaws bought on by their prejudice which impeded their goals. Sadly, it sees as though both sides believe they are in conflict with one another and, of even more significance, they believe they must defeat the other for its survival.

These communities are no different than any other organization and their behavior is actually classic organizational behavior. As organizations and communities become prosperous, they often succumb to the temptation to forget their original purpose and their focus shifts to protecting the existence of the organization at all cost. Also, indicative of a trait common to organizations, the members of religious and scientific communities do not feel nearly at odds with one another as their leadership seems to feel. Is this tension necessary? Has it been ever present? Have these two communities ever been in harmony?

There was a brief period of time in which science and religion were in harmony. The time period just happens to coincide with the end of a dark time in history and the emergence of a new country which is clearly stated as its purpose – to provide a sovereign place in which individuals are free to live and pursue happiness. The assumption of that purpose is that individuals who find truth will be happy as they are blessed with the knowledge of truth.

An interesting irony of that assumption is that it must first be assumed that there is an absolute truth to be found and that the truth exists beyond human input. In short, it asserts that mankind is not the completion of the evolution of life. Moreover, it assures that mankind is merely a significant player, and that something or someone much bigger than us (let's call that truth) requires discovery. The brief alliance of science and religion coincided with the establishment of the United States of America and all three factions of human civilization (government, science, and religion) aligned under a single philosophy – that when people are left free, they seek to govern themselves honorably and seek to discover truth about this natural world and any supernatural world. They were aligned in the philosophy that there existed good and evil; and science, religion, and government were equally capable of both.

It can not be overstated that the environment which led to this unique period of history, one in which science, religion, and government seemed to be in perfect fashion with one another, was not an accident. It was by design. One thing the founding fathers understood well was the purpose of organizations, and, by extension, their …

Types of Education Majors

Types of Education Majors

Some people are simply born to teach. These natural educators should pursue majors that fit their teaching style as well as their favorite subject. A person who loves music and wants to be a teacher should choose music education as their major, not architecture or pharmaceuticals. Being true to yourself and what you love will make you an effective educator. This article is for those of you who want to know more about the different types of education majors available to you in an online college.

Early Childhood Education

The early childhood education major is for people who want to teach young children the building blocks of everything they will learn in future years. If you are interested in providing a strong foundation for the youth of today, this major would be a great way to get involved. Learning how to teach children the most basic of skills can be a rewarding experience.

Secondary Education

Everything beyond elementary school is considered secondary education. You might choose this type of major because you prefer to teach more challenging subjects, or simply because you feel you get along better with older children. Keep in mind that students who are in middle school are going through many changes, and may not treat you with the kind of respect and awe you would likely receive from elementary aged children. This also tends to be a problem in high school, so if you think you are tough enough and can deal with the attitudes and disrespect that come with teaching secondary grades, then this is the major for you.

K-12 Major

If you are unable to decide which grade you would prefer to teach, get an overall K-12 education by choosing an all-encompassing major. This gives you the option of being certified to work in any grade, at just about any school. Having choices is very good in the current economy situation, as you would be able to accept just about any job offer in education.

Music Education

People who choose to be music education teachers are a very special breed. They must have a passion for music of all kinds, because they will have to take classes for every type of instrument and voice. They must also be willing to break down what they know into smaller bites for their students. This is true of all majors, really, but with music majors, they have the option of choosing music performance as their major as well. Those who decide on being music educators set aside their love of performing to teach students how to play an instrument or sing a song. The difference between performance and education is that, in the beginning, the students are not being taught how to be musical because they are not quite able to comprehend that in beginning band, choir, or orchestra. Only when they have performed for several years will they come to an understanding of what it means to play with musicality.

Other Education Majors

There are several …
